10 Marsh Street: The flagship that supports the NZCB brand
Replacing the ‘rabbit warren’ offices of Spring Street was the dream for NZCB and cutting the ribbon to the future at Marsh Street is the vision coming true. From its board level inception, the finished article is a collaborative representation of NZCB’s values and the talented people they represent.
Turning up at NZCB headquarters it’s impossible to slip past the hearty recycled black beam exoskeleton, sourced and recovered from an Auckland building site. The chunky, arched laminated timber beams exude strength and innovation and are a source of curative pride for NZCB Chief Executive Grant Florence who was thrilled to have, “something old to add into the design element.” NZCB Chairman, Brent Chatterton went further, stating that “from a builder’s point of view, the recycled beams are awesome.”
The building is immediately inclusive to a steady stream of visitors (set to grow), from valued NZCB members, regional representatives and the public. There’s no front desk to vet guests and their wares, but more so a playfully decorated, rustic weatherboard feature wall with raised table where coffee is better suited than contract signing. It’s the perfect response to the growing trend that is veering away from the generic boardroom and to more informal multi-use areas.

The exterior is unambiguously commercial but instantly indoors, there’s more fun, reflective of the down-to-earth office culture.
