In the News: Building cost rises stay modest

There is new data out from Cotality showing the cost of building a home is rising only slightly, and is under the long-term average.

The latest Cordell Construction Cost Index shows a 1.1% rise in the three months to June. Annual growth is at 3.5% – below the long-term average of around 4%.

NZCB Chief Executive Malcolm Fleming told Ryan Bridge the figures are surprising but pleasing given the backdrop of the Iran war. He says there is enthusiasm from industry we’re at the bottom of a cycle and on the way up.
